Race For The Cure ‘08

The race for the cure today was intense! A friend and I got up at the break of dawn to run a 5k at Garden of the Gods w/ literally hundreds of other people who either ran or walked for a cure to breast cancer. 75% of the profits made go to the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure foundation.  It was fun to say the least, I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a runner but I managed to drag myself around the course. Never in my life would I have thought that I would be paying to run races. I will admit I was surprised by the amount of people who attended… I didn’t realize how big this event is! I wish I would have brought my camera with me or my cell phone to post pics up on flickr but I didn’t think about it until I got to the event. Ah well… If you ever get a chance to walk or run for a charity organization I would urge you to do it! The profits go to a good cause while you are doing something to improve your mind and body.

GeoEye Launch

GeoEye is preparing to launch their newest geospatial satellite. The satellite was originally scheduled to launch August 22nd but has been rescheduled to September fourth from Vandenberg AFB, CA. (Too bad I leave Vandenberg a couple of days before its launched but you can be sure that I will be watching the launch live from their website!) GeoEye-1 will have the highest resolution of any commercial imaging system and be able to collect images with a ground resolution of 0.41-meters or 16 inches in the panchromatic or black and white mode. GeoEye-1 is designed to be able to offer three-meter geolocation accuracy, which means that customers can map natural and man-made features to within three meters (about 9 feet) of their actual location on the surface of the Earth without ground control points. You can read more here.

I look forward to the next 50 years to witness [...]

Web users ‘getting more selfish’

While reading Digg today, I ran across an interesting link to an article posted on the BBC website about how web users are skipping all the formalities so to speak and going right for the information they want. Users are going right for search engines and skipping home pages. You can find the article here.

Can a Developer Be A Good Designer?

Today, I was reading through a web developer forum and I ran across a noobie web designer asking for help with one of her school projects. She was looking for a place to find a cheat sheet. (It was apparent from how she asked her question that she didn’t know much about web design.) As [...]

Adam / Chu Dance Crew

A few days ago I was reading through the Invisible Children blog and I stumbled across The Biggest Online Dance Battle. Invisible Children has decided to support the Adam / Chu Dance Crew (ACDC) by selling their t-shirts which are sold right out of the Invisible Children store. By purchasing a shirt you aren’t [...]

Project Management with Basecamp

Today, my company (Lifespent Media), switched to a new project management tool called Basecamp. Although this is not my first time using it, I am still impressed. I used Basecamp while I was working with Design is Fuel on one of their projects. I will admit its hard trying to stay organized and keep track [...]

Living Life w/ an iMac

After literally years of contemplation I decided (more like talked my self into) it was time to buy a Mac. Thats right, I gave in and purchased an iMac and wow… am glad I decided too. The responsiveness, tools, eye candy, and usability to name a few are reasons enough for me to have bought this Mac.
The responsiveness of this computer [...]

Behind AlpineGaming.com

Let me just start this post off with a WOW! Not wow that its taken me just over four months to write a new post (even though I am sure my site would disagree)… but rather more of a wow for a new framework I have been working with: Ruby on Rails. I know, I [...]

Have To Pay The Writers

With this writers strike hitting television networks hard in the pocket book, it would seem NBC has found a way to make some extra cash by launching an auction website with materials from the sets of shows such as Heroes, The Office, and Friday Night Lights. Just to name a few. I guess this is [...]
